Three Statements Every Missionary Sending Church Must Answer

Church trends are revealing that more and more churches want to have a personal relationship with missionaries. Rather than taking up annual or semi-annual offerings and then sending it away to support missionaries who are complete strangers, more churches are exploring how they can send their own missionaries to the field.

Here are three statements that a missionary sending church may be challenged with.

1.  We’ve never done that before. Some people in church will automatically throw cold water on such an idea as sending out their own missionaries simply because that’s not the way they’ve done it in the past. They may ask, “What church does this?” Instead of being led by past tradition, we need to hear from God and follow His leadership. He is not bound by tradition.

2.  We can’t afford it. Certainly pooling money from many churches is still a good idea. We are better together, as they say. Yet, we must understand that God may place an opportunity in front of us and ask us to follow Him by faith. We have to put our money where our mouth is.

3.  Our church is too small. Don’t missionary sending churches have to be big churches? Actually, no. We have a big God! He specializes in using the small and less significant people and places to accomplish His work. Just ask Gideon.

Tega Cay Baptist has an incredible opportunity to send Adam, our current Associate Pastor of Outreach and Discipleship to the mission field. Let’s join the work of God and watch what great provisions He will make.
