His Steadfast Love

main image

Memory verse for this week

“Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.” Micah 7:18

The righteous anger of God is an instrument of discipline which falls upon unrepentant and unconfessed sin in the lives of His children. His anger may result in disrupted fellowship with Himself which, to the soft and broken hearted, will be like a crushing blow resulting in restoration. Upon repentance, He will again have compassion and cast all our sin into the depths of the sea (v.19). How grateful we are that He delights in steadfast love. If He were a loveless God no one could stand. Paul says in Ephesians 2:4 “But God, being rich in mercy because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved.”

Prayer points for today:

  1. Praise God for His faithful love towards us.
  2. Continue to pray for the 4 day Thirst Conference in October (12-15) to be a great time of renewal.

In Christ Alone,

Brad

Our Pardoning God

Memory verse for this week

“Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.” Micah 7:18

God alone pardons iniquity. He accomplishes this not by looking the other way or by virtue of using His great love as a way to trump a just payment for our debt. He is holy and righteous and requires full payment for sin. The only way God can pardon sin is through the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ who took upon Himself the full wrath of the Father for our sin thereby forgiving our sin and wiping away our guilt. No idol can pardon sin by passing over transgression. Only through the blood of the Lamb can God pass over sin and restore those who have stumbled into transgression.

Prayer points for today:

  1. Give God praise for His faithfulness and trustworthiness.
  2. Thank the Lord that there is no idol that can compare with Him.

In Christ Alone,

Brad

Who Is Like God?

MEMORY VERSE FOR THIS WEEK

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.” Micah 7:18

It should be normal for the people of God to break out in praise to the Lord as we think about His grace. When we think about the glorious truth that there is no one like our God we should become overcome with worship. Paul pictures such doxologies in Romans 11:36; Galatians 1:5 and Ephesians 3:21 just to name a few examples of praise in the Bible. God alone is without beginning or end. He is immune from corruption. He is infinitely wise and is the fountain of all truth. Therefore, He cannot be ignored. We dare not pass by giving Him less recognition and honor than the trifle things of life which consume us. He is the Living God! Let us prize Him above all things.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Think upon the glory of God and give Him praise.
  2. Depend on Him for all your needs.

Pray and seek to reach someone you know who does not know Christ as Savior
