"Stop and Think"
“But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’” Matthew 1:20
Joseph was a very wise man. He was facing a huge decision; what to do about Mary? Joseph is a wonderful example for us all to follow. He did not merely react to his circumstances. He did not do what seems like anyone else would have done. He stopped and “considered these things.” Joseph was a thoughtful man. He examined his situation. He did not jump forward in a knee-jerk reaction but he stopped. He thought before he acted. During that time, the Lord spoke to him and gave him his assignment. What about you? Do you speak or act before stopping and thinking. Stop and ask the Lord what He wants you to do then follow in obedience.
- Lord, help me to stop and consider what You are doing before I proceed with words or actions. Then give me the courage to follow You in obedience.
