The Advent of Love; pt.2

main image

Tega Cay Baptist Family and Friends,

Memory verse for this week:

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:10,11

True love is selfless care, protection, and provision for another person. This love spreads far beyond our loved ones. Even those who do not know God love those who love them. True love, however, extends even to our “enemies”. In this there is great profit for we are doing as Jesus did. He loved us when we were His enemies. He also taught us that we should exercise this love for the poor and destitute in part because they cannot pay us back. Acts of love that look for something in return is only love of self. Jesus taught us how to love. One may say, “I hate no one”. Yet Christ taught us that we suffer more from lack of love than we do hate.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Thank the Lord for His great love for you, your family, and your neighbors.
  2. Give Him praise for sending His Son into the world to redeem us.

In Christ Alone,

Brad

Tega Cay Baptist Family and Friends,

 Memory verse for this week:

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:10,11

The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:19 “We love because he first loved us.” It is love that compels the follower of Christ to fall down and worship at His feet. The wise men from the east presented to the Child gifts of great worth. They even offered themselves to Jesus by bowing down to Him. Are you worshipping Christ with everything? What are you holding back from Him? Sometimes we hold back our financial treasures thinking we can’t afford to surrender it. Sometimes we hold back our ambitions for life thinking our plan is better than His. Present to Him your first and best rather than your leftovers and lame.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Thank Him for loving you.
  2. Ask Him to help you love Him with your life.

 In Christ Alone,

Brad

The Advent of Joy; pt.3

Tega Cay Baptist Family and Friends,

 Memory verse for this week:

“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.’” Luke 2:10

The path of life is reveal by God as we dwell in His presence. Psalm 16:11 says, “..in your presence there is fullness of joy”. As we celebrate the birth of Christ the King, the Bible tells us that His name shall be called Immanuel – God with us. It is only through Christ that we can experience the fellowship of God’s presence. His presence alone is great joy. Verse 11 goes on to say, “…at your right hand are pleasures forevermore”. The extent of our joy and pleasure will not exceed the depth of our moment-by-moment walk with Him. The more we grow in our knowledge of Him as our provider, sustainer, savior, counselor, and preserver the greater our joy and pleasure will be in Him.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Confess the Lord as your provider, sustainer, savior, counselor, and preserver.
  2. Rest in His joy.

In Christ Alone,

Brad
