The King Is Coming

Tega Cay Baptist Family and Friends,

 Memory verse for this week

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

The pinnacle of our hope is in the return of Jesus Christ. In fact, His return is so important that Peter has already mentioned it four times (v.5,7,9,13). As the sun rises each day pushing back the darkness of night, so the return of the Lord Jesus Christ will cause evil and sin to retreat in the light of His glory and grace. Christ will return in glory. His justice will fall down like rain on the world. His mercy will rule the day. His love will overcome our fearful hearts. Then the Ancient of Days will take His proper place on the throne of glory and righteousness will reign. This is our hope as followers of Christ and this hope can never be taken away.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Give Him praise for His nearing return and ask Him to renew your hope in Him.
  2. Pray for someone who does not know Christ.

 In Christ Alone,

Brad

There Is A Hope

Tega Cay Baptist Family and Friends,

Memory verse for this week

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

Where would we be without hope? Hope that is grounded in the Lord Jesus Christ is powerful to change our perspective on the corruptions of the world. The depravity of the fallen world system will increasingly add pressure to the child of God who is trying to live a life well-pleasing to our great and holy God. Deep conflicts of interest between those people of the Lord and those who are of their father the devil will continue to create tribulations. We have, however, a living hope in our resurrected Savior. Our hope is one that does not disappoint. Our hope in Christ is able to love, respond, and lead biblically in all circumstances.

Prayer points for today:

  1. Express your hope in God.
  2. Give Him praise for His power and love.
  3. Pray for your co-workers today.

 In Christ Alone,

Brad

Use Your Mind

 Memory verse for this week

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

Peter’s phrase, “being sober-minded,” presents the world and its pleasures as potentially intoxicating. Our minds can be intoxicated by the allurements of the world. The people of God are sometimes too easily swayed by error when it is presented in a nice package. When sin is offered in the most attractive frame we are fooled just enough by the deceptions of the world and a numb mind acting as a willing accomplice that we fail to see sin as wretched. Peter is admonishing the people to clear their minds of worldly fog, think plainly about biblical truth, and make up their minds to live in a godly manner by glorifying Christ in every decision.

 Prayer points for today:

  1. Are you flooding your mind with the truth of God’s Word?
  2. Ask the Lord for wisdom in the decisions that are before you.

In Christ Alone,

Brad
