"The Lord Reigns"

Memory Versus

“Say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.’” Psalm 96:10

The child of God has no reason to fear the future. The future is not left to chance. It is already determined by the Sovereign God. Now we proclaim the gospel to the nations so they can know Christ. The day will come, however, when all the nations will worship the Lord Jesus. They will all bow down to Him and operate under His supreme rule. Until then, let’s be diligent to pray for the nations so they will know the Lord. Pray for your neighbors who have moved from other parts of the U.S and the world. Rejoice! Our God reigns! He is coming again to right every wrong and to rule sovereignly.

 Prayer points:

  • Lord, help me to remember that You are God. This world is not out of control, the future is not out up of grabs, and one day the nations will praise You. Let me be encouraged.

"Free Mercy"

Memory Verse

“…he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit…” Titus 3:5

If you are saved, it is because of the work of Christ alone. You have contributed no righteousness that appeases God’s holiness. You have freely received the righteousness of Christ by being obedient to the gospel you have heard (2 Cor. 5:20; 1 Peter 1:22; 4:17). It is His mercy that saves us and His mercy alone keeps us. An old Puritan prayer proclaims, “Keep me, for I cannot keep myself. Protect me that no evil befall me. Let me lay aside every sin admired of many. Help me to walk by (your) side, lean on (your) arm, hold converse with (you).” Rejoice that you have been washed and renewed by the Holy Spirt!

 Prayer points:

  • Lord, remind me how great Your salvation is. Help me to keep the truth that I have been washed clean in the precious blood of Jesus Christ fresh on my mind. Thank you for keeping me, protecting me, and letting me lean on You.

Victory!

Memory Verse

“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.” Romans 6:6

The “old self” is who we were before repentance and faith in the full and completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The Bible is very clear that our “old self” is dead and gone. It was crucified with Christ. This does not mean we will never sin again. But it does mean that we are no longer enslaved to sin. We are not obligated to obey sin. Sin is not our master. Sin has no claim over us. We are free, in Christ, from the clutches of sin. When temptation comes our way, use the power of prayer, use the power of the Scriptures, and use the power of personal accountability to fight off temptation and sin. Truth defeats lies every time.

 Prayer points:

  • Sovereign Lord, may You be magnified in my life. Help me to not be defeated by sin but to acknowledge Your atonement and substitutionary death on the cross for me. Oh living God, let me see victory over sin.
