"Be A Blessing"

Be A Blessing

Memory Verse

“But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus…” 2 Corinthians 7:6

We serve a God who cares. He desires to be intimately involved in your life to the point that He knows every time you are downcast in spirit. One of the ways He comforts us is through other people. Paul described being encouraged when Titus visited. Often times we can be encouraged by a visit from a friend. God sends the right person at the right time to bless us and to help us trust in God in the midst of our discouragement. Don’t wait to be a blessing. If God has encouraged you, give back by being a blessing to someone else. A phone call, card, email, or a text can go a long way to brighten someone’s day.

 Prayer point:

  • Lord, thank You for comforting me when I am downcast. Help me to think of others and how I can be a blessing to them.

"A Short "To-Do" list"

A Short "To-Do" list

Memory Verse

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13,14

Paul closes his first letter to the Corinthians with a short “to-do” list. First we are to be watchful. We are told to be on guard and alert in prayer. Is your prayer life watchful or is it lazy? He then tells us to stand firm in the faith. Where are the men and women who will stand firm against the current of this broken and fallen world system? It takes courage and it is somewhat risky to take a stand in the face of a sea of opposition. Paul next says we should act like men. Elsewhere in Scripture, the people of God are encouraged to grow up and stop drinking milk. Instead, we are to feed on the meat of the Word. Finally, be strong and love. This world needs to know the love of Jesus Christ more than anything else. Be salt and light in your home, church, and community.

 Prayer Points:

  • Lord God, may Your strong hand strengthen me as I step out of my comfort zone and into the mission field You have placed me in.

"The Lord Must Build...Or Else"

Memory Verse

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127:1

The Lord God has orchestrated our lives, church, and missions in such a way that we must depend on Him. Oswald Chambers said, “It is not the strength of one man’s personality being super imposed on another, but the real presence of Christ coming through the elements of the worker’s life. When we preach the historic facts of the life and death of Our Lord as they are conveyed in the New Testament…God uses them to create in those who listen that which is not created otherwise. What a wonderful personality! What a fascinating man! Such marvelous insight! What chance has the Gospel of God through all that? If a man attracts by his personality, his appeal is along that line; if he is identified  with his Lord’s personality, then the appeal is along the line of what Jesus Christ can do. The danger is to glory in men; Jesus says we are to lift Him up.”

 Prayer Points:

  • All giving Father, help me to understand that You have called me to be faithful and obedient. Thank You that I can rest in Your mighty Hand. Help me to remember to trust in Christ and not my own talents.
